Supporting local businesses
Bicycle Co-Op of Williamsburg’s is a volunteer-run project of BikeWalk Williamsburg, a 501c3 non-profit. The Co-Op’s Mission is to provide affordable refurbished bicycles to children, youth, and adults in our community. In addition, FREE bicycles are available to meet transportation, health and wellness of clients referred by over 20 nonprofits and human services agency partners. Mechanical volunteers refurbish donated and reclaimed bicycles for renewed use, keeping them out of landfills.
Parker & Peony Boutique is a consignment and resale shop for modern women. The boutique offers chic, trendy and vintage clothing, shoes and accessories, NWT or in mint condition. Aside from providing a wonderful way to re-cycle gently/never worn clothing, P&P offers opportunities to showcase women-owned/operated small local businesses and to provide a venue for community minded events such as serving as a collection site for food donations for Fish, items for Meal-on-Wheels recipients and essential products for distribution through Avalon. The boutique’s owner has hosted voter registration drives coordinated with the local League of Women Voters and participated in the monthly trash removal from the JYP Alley. In addition to “Fashion Therapy”, P&P is known as a friendly, mindful environment to meet, chat and laugh for all in the community.
Fill Happy, a zero-waste, re-fill store specializing in a wide array of non-toxic and sustainable products for the home, pet and personal care, prioritizes the world-wide environment as well as our local community. While donating to places like Avalon and Meals-on-Wheels. Fill Happy also partners with local vendors who commit to provide 10% of their proceeds to charitable organizations. Like a ripple effect, these gifts in-kind pay forward benefits to others.
